Mission Accomplished is offering a part-time, free training programme aimed at West Midlands-based screen professionals who are seeking support to develop their careers in the region and are at an early to mid-career stage.

We are looking for people who are:

  • Aged 19 or over?

  • Resident in the West Midlands Combined Authority (WMCA)* region?

  • Are a screen professional with between 2 to 5 years’ professional screen experience working in craft, technical, editorial or production roles across scripted (Film, HETV or continuing drama), unscripted, animation or post-production.

*This includes residents of Birmingham City Council, Coventry City Council, Dudley Metro Borough Council, Sandwell Metro Borough Council, Solihull Metro Borough Council, Walsall Council and City of Wolverhampton.

A 3 track programme covering: 

  • Professional upskilling – focussing on the skills and knowledge that will enable those at early to mid-level in their careers to progress and develop. 

  • Employability support and development – About Me – delivered both as group training and 1-2-1s. This is designed to enable learners to be strategic with their career. 

  • Placement and department specific mentoring 

Mission Accomplished is particularly keen to receive applications from traditionally excluded groups especially those from: 

  • People from racialised identities
  • People that are (d)Deaf, Disabled and/or Neurodivergent
  • Those who are care-experienced.
  • People from a refugee or disadvantaged migrant community
  • Those from a Gypsy, Roma or Traveller community
  • People from LGBTQI+ Communities
  • People from a working class/low-income background (or if you have identified as such in the past)

Employability support and development

  • Being the CEO of my career 
  • What does success look like? 
  • Nurturing and leveraging my networks

  • CV developing and updating 
  • Pitching and presenting 
  • Interview skills – interviewing and interviewer 
  • Working as a freelancer 
  • Freelancer finances 

Placement (1 week) and Department specific mentor (4 x 60 mins) 

Each learner is matched with a WM-based professional to act as their mentor who is from their genre and department and is a couple of steps ahead of them. The mentor is there to support them with their development in their specific department as well as build stronger local networks. 

Learners will also have the opportunity to do a week-long placement shadowing their mentor and/or joining their team to enable them to put their learning into practice. 

Learning outcomes 

By the end of the course we expect that learners would be able to take on more responsibility, look to increase salary, secure new contract, secure promotion and/or step onto bigger productions.

  • Saturday, March 1, 2025, 9:00-16:30
  • Saturday, March 15, 2025, 9:00-16:30
  • Sunday, March 16, 2025, 9:00-16:30
  • Saturday, March 29, 2025, 9:00-16:30
  • First Option: Health and Safety Training – TBC
  •  Zoom masterclasses with industry professionals 
  • 3 x 60 mins employability support 1-2-1 
  • 4 x 60 mins department mentor support 1-2-1 
  • 1 x week placement with mentor 

Following this, all applications will be reviewed and shortlisted applicants will be invited to attend an online interview.
